Disease

Who are we?

Our national disease team comprises over 55 high calibre specialist disease lawyers with a proven track record of providing proactive advice to organisations and helping them to achieve significant savings. Our national disease team includes specialist disease lawyers in 11 locations across England and in Scotland.

Our experienced disease team undertakes disease work for the UK’s major Insurers and corporate clients and we have specialist experience in unusual disease claims and exposure cases.

Since 2018 we have sat on the disease panel for a major insurance company client, where we receive 40% of the claims and have remained the top of their law firm league table (which measures performance against KPIs).
In Scotland, we have one of the largest defender disease teams in the country. We are the sole panel firm for a major insurance client dealing with all their pleural plaques, deafness and VWF claims on an outsourced basis. Under this agreement our Disease team in Scotland has handled 2000 claims in the last five years.

You can be confident in our expertise. Our established Disease team has the breadth of skill and experience to pro-actively handle any type of disease claim, however rare and bring it to a satisfactory conclusion.

How can we help you?

We always place our clients at the heart of what we do. We do this by giving you excellent customer service delivered by the highest quality professionals who know our clients’ markets and who will invest their time in understanding our clients’ strategic goals and objectives and preferred ways of working. We work to develop and maintain effective partnerships with our clients, and we deliver a highly responsive and proactive service.

Our claims handling process is as follows:

  • Right Lawyer, Right Case: The right level of person deals with the right level of claim. This is a critical aspect of successful and proactive case management. This is the key to reducing settlement times as cases are prevented from “drifting” and the desired outcome is achieved more quickly.
  • Supervision: The technical experience and skill of our teams and timely and effective supervision on each and every file ensures that we are able to make early decisions on cases in order to obtain the best results. Our focus on regular and effective supervision throughout the life of the file ensures that this is achieved.
  • Best Practice: We adopt a best practice approach to claims management. While there is no “one size fits all” approach, we adopt a similar process for all claims.
