Defendant Injury

By adopting a proactive and commercial approach, our Injury Risk team provides a service specifically designed to reduce our clients' indemnity spend.

Our team exclusively deals with defendant personal injury claims. For some clients we provide a cradle-to-grave service dealing with cases from the outset, through to the Injuries Board process whilst other clients instruct us only once a matter is litigated. We are also experienced in dealing with books of business in run-off.

We fully understand the importance of accurate reserving and this is a major focus of the team. We are accustomed to providing detailed Management Information (MI) and being measured by challenging KPIs. We actively encourage clients to provide us with an SLA as we welcome being measured against our competitors. We can work on either a direct instruction basis or on a delegated authority basis. Our team has successfully handled large volumes of cases as an outsourced project for clients, and we have experience of managing a client's former solicitors panel.

We use a bespoke case management system that ensures cases are always being progressed and use detailed MI databases. We report regularly, advising on key issues. We operate much lower case loads than our competitors so we know our cases better, progress them quicker and reduce the shelf life of our client's cases and ultimately reduce our clients' indemnity spend.  Every case has a defined strategy that has been approved at partner or associate level.

Our team deals with employers' liability, public liability and motor claims. We have a dedicated Claims Validation team which solely handles suspicious and fraudulent claims. We have a dedicated Large Loss team that is supervised by James Colville (Dublin based) and Tania Sless (an Irish partner based in London who has vast experience of Large Loss claims in Ireland and the UK).

We are panel solicitors for some of the larger insurers in Ireland. We also act for many international insurers who have exposure in Ireland.

We frequently provide training to our clients and are very happy to assist clients working with major insureds as part of, and in the run-up to, the renewal process. We work with our clients to provide a fully joined-up service with brokers, claims handlers and loss adjusters.
