Ruth specialises in handling complex and catastrophic personal injury claims and liability investigations out of our Leeds office, in addition advising clients on regulatory compliance and the practical application of risk management strategies. Her clients include a range of insurers, health trusts and corporates, and covers both motor and casualty work.
She has extensive experience of the full range of brain, spinal, amputation and complex Orthopaedic claims, and has particular expertise in managing claims involving chronic pain, fibromyalgia, CRPS and associated conditions, often pleaded in excess of £1 million.
Her focus is on identifying core issues and then, where appropriate, moving to settlement before litigation is contemplated, but will defend robustly where warranted. She ran the case of Geary v J D Wetherspoon to trial in 2011 on behalf of a key insurer client, and took the case of Goundry v Hepworth to the Court of Appeal in 2005.
Ruth frequently lectures to a large range of insurance and corporate clients in relation to her specialist areas.
