Richard specialises in technology related outsourcing and system integration projects. He has over 20 years' experience of providing clients with strategic advice and guidance on a wide range of large scale outsourcing contracts, covering in particular IT and BPO projects in both the public and private sectors. Richard provides clients with the benefit of his knowledge and experience generally in relation to technology sourcing projects, and specifically in relation to current trends and best practices in procurement and contracting strategy.
He is experienced in leading on the delivery of legal services for large-scale outsourcing projects and has significant experience of negotiating with leading technology suppliers such as IBM, SAP, Oracle, HP, Accenture, Atos, BT, CSC, HCL and Cap Gemini.
Also, he has advised Tier 1 suppliers (such as Accenture) on major technology projects and this experience has given Richard greater insight into the issues faced by suppliers, and how the better alignment of commercial interests is invaluable in developing an attractive commercial proposition. Advising Alliance Boots on the re-tender of its outsourced application development and application maintenance services;
International Personal Finance plc on establishing a Master Services Agreement with HCL for the call-off of a range of IT services to underpin a major business transformation programme;
Advising the Department for Education (in 2003 and again in 2011) on its major re-tender of the large-scale administration BPO (£80m) of the Teachers' Pension Scheme (the 2nd largest database in Europe) involving the management of 1.5 million confidential;
Advising The London Metal Exchange on establishing a community data centre, with Interxion, to provide high speed access to the LMEselect Trading Platform;
Advising William Hill Plc on a major international HR and Payroll outsourcing project;
UK's Digital Switchover Programme: Leading the team advising Arqiva (formerly National Grid Wireless) on the procurement of broadcasting equipment for use in the UKs Digital Switchover programme.
