Lucy Hemsworth

Lucy is an advocate in our specialist advocacy service, 8 DAC Beachcroft Buildings (8DB).

Lucy accepts instructions in various interlocutory matters across all track values, small claims hearings and credit hire.

In her role as an advocate she is regularly attending court on CMC's/directions hearings, applications, Stage 3 disposal hearings and OIC portal claims hearings. She has a strong success rate in reducing damages when acting for defendants in RTA injury claims and credit hire claims.

Lucy also accepts paper instructions, and drafts various pleadings, applications, defences and skeleton arguments in multiple areas of law and has an adept understanding of procedure.

Lucy accepts instructions in property disputes and has experience advising on escapes of water, fire damage and accepts drafting instructions in a wide range of property work.

Relevant experience includes:

• Regularly instructed by major UK insurers in various hearings, Lucy has a strong personal injury practice at county court level.
• Lucy is regularly instructed on procedural matters, attending CMC's at fast & multi track valuation. She is often instructed on allocation matters and will succeed in bringing cases with multi track value to the small claims track.
• Before joining 8DB, Lucy was a self-employed County Court Advocate. Within this role, she undertook various preliminary and interlocutory hearings. Lucy has conducted hundreds of hearings, with her main focus on applications and possession matters.

Awards/rankings

• Lucy has been recognised by Middle Temple as an outstanding candidate, having been awarded the Queen Mother Scholarship and Blackstone Exhibition Award to commence the BPC.
• She is also a recipient of the Access to the Bar Award. This is the Inn of Court’s work experience programme to aid social mobility, and was one of 30 candidates to receive this award.
• Further, Lucy was awarded the Rice Jones Scholarship in response to her essay submission on the challenges facing the legal profession following COVID-19.
