Kylie Poyner is a legal director in the Professional Risks Department and has extensive experience in dealing with claims against a wide variety of professionals, including claims against commercial surveyors, solicitors and construction professionals. Kylie also regularly advises insurers on complex policy coverage issues and delivers in-house training to clients on coverage.
Kylie has also acted for both schools and universities regarding failure to educate type claims and claims involving allegations of bullying and discrimination.
For 3 years, Kylie started her legal career as a claims handler in the Beachcroft Specialist Claims Handling Team, where she gained experience in handling a high volume of professional indemnity claims. Kylie has also completed a very successful secondment to a London Market insurer.
Kylie is currently the lead Legal Director on a £45m claim against a national surveyor involving an alleged under-sale of a large property portfolio. The claim also involves public law issues.
Kylie was involved in a multi-party (coverage) dispute arising out of the redevelopment of Kings Cross station. This raised very complex issues, including as between excess insurers, relation to Section 51 Supreme Court Act and costs orders against non-parties. The matter was resolved at mediation.
Kylie regularly advises on coverage; for example she is currently advising on scope of notification issues concerning multiple defects in an office building, as well as on round the clock reinstatement issues on a surveyor's policy.
