Kelly Robinson

Kelly specialises in civil litigation with a focus on vehicle hire and damage claims.

She has over 12 years’ experience advising clients across a range of sectors including insurance, motor, civil litigation and high value credit hire claims. Her key clients include Somerset Bridge Insurance Services Limited, Allianz Insurance Plc and Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Plc.

Kelly has been a part of the Vehicle Hire & Damage team since its near inception and has over 10 years’ experience of dealing with high value credit hire claims. She is known for her technical ability in handling complex credit hire arguments and in advising clients in tailored “know your opponent” strategies to defend credit hire and damage claims.

You will find Kelly presenting regularly in industry events including the team’s annual conference.

Relevant experience includes:

• Advising and successfully defending the cases of Hillier v Southern Rock Insurance Company Limited [2020] and Oni v Collingwood Insurance Company Limted [2020] both of which involved complex arguments surrounding the law on abuse of process and compromise and reached first instance appeal. Kelly advised in Hillier when permission to appeal was requested and refused by the Court of Appeal.
• Leading an emerging strategy on abuse of process and compromise for claims previously within the MOJ portal. Kelly regularly advises clients on their litigation strategy in this regard.
• Advising an insurer on their exit from a multi-million pound protocol and subsequent litigation strategy.
