Julian has over ten year's experience as a specialist insurance and reinsurance lawyer in Sydney and Singapore, having also worked in-house with Australia’s largest general insurer.
He has particular expertise in large property, construction and business interruption claims, often with a cross-jurisdictional element. He has worked in Singapore and the greater Asian region for almost a decade, and has advised Re/Insurers on many major losses in the region including the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and the 2011 Thai Floods.
Julian has a strong background in mathematics and accounting, which has been of great assistance to his clients in critically reviewing and analysing forensic accounting reports and business interruption claims.
His experience also includes:
advising and acting in professional indemnity matters involving solicitors and insurance brokers;
advising on facultative reinsurance disputes arising in Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore;
advising and acting in professional indemnity matters involving property managing agents, solicitors and insurance brokers;
reviewing and redrafting property and liability policy wordings for insurers and captives;
conducting insurance audit work for banks and property funds in Greater China, Japan and South Asia; and
conducting arbitrations under SIAC, ICC, LMAA, TAI, Uncitral Rules and ad hoc referrals
