Hannah Chapelhow's Expertise

Hannah Chapelhow

Hannah Chapelhow is a senior associate commercial lawyer in our Newcastle office. She specialises in public procurement and commercial contracts.

She undertakes a large part of her work advising contracting authorities on procurement issues ranging from strategic risk advice at the outset of a project to the review and drafting of tender documentation and the management of potential and actual legal challenges.

Hannah also advises private/third sector clients on the procurement regulations with a particular emphasis on the remedies available and the potential for challenge.

Additionally, Hannah has experience advising on a range of commercial contracts from both a customer and supplier perspective.

Hannah's experience includes:

  • Running a £130m managed tender procurement process on behalf of an NHS client for the procurement of offender healthcare services including the drafting of all tender documentation and managing communication with all bidders;
  • Advising a Borough Council on the procurement implications of making modifications to a £33 million waste contract including advice on the potential changes that could be made within the scope of the procurement regime and the likelihood of challenge in the event that modifications were made outside of this.
  • Managing a procurement evaluation for a £17m procurement process on behalf of a client. This involved providing scoring templates for evaluators, reviewing initial evaluator scores against the published scoring criteria and bids, chairing the evaluation meeting and recording reasons for consensus scores and changes in scores, drafting the evaluation report and drafting standstill letters.

Hannah qualified in January 2005 and joined DAC Beachcroft in 2014.
