Giles leads the firm's Governance Advisory Practice. He is a Chartered Secretary with a broad background in a number of fields, ranging from financial services to the public sector. His particular interest is advising in governance and he has worked with numerous clients at board level and below.
In the course of his career, he has managed change, led operational teams, mentored directors and planned and delivered acquisitions and mergers. He is an experienced speaker and media spokesman.
Examples of recent work include leading a six month independent governance review of the LINK scheme, the UK's national ATM network, and he is currently advising a number of insurance firms on regulatory change.
His roles have included being Managing Director of Capita's Company Secretarial Services Outsourcing Business, Policy Director of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and a fixed term appointment as Corporate Development Director of an acute NHS Trust, created out of a merger. His first career was in the Royal Navy where he served as a Supply Officer in a variety of appointments at sea and in Whitehall, retiring in the rank of Captain in 2002.
He is an experienced Chair and Non-executive Director of a number of companies.
