Beverley Atkinson is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in professional negligence law. She is a legal director and solicitor advocate based in our Edinburgh office. She is dual qualified in both Scotland and England & Wales.
Beverley specialises in defending professional negligence claims against surveyors, solicitors and construction and financial services professionals. Beverley has experience of handling complex claims of significant value. She is an experienced litigator and also an advocate of ADR, having experience of mediation. She provides commercial and cost effective advice and is instructed by major insurers. She also sits on the Scottish Solicitors' Discipline Tribunal which determines complaints of professional misconduct against solicitors.

Representing a firm of consultant design engineers in respect of a £1.7m construction claim
Representing surveyors in respect of multiple claims concerning alleged over-valuation and fraudulent misrepresentation
Representing solicitors against an action for damages of over £3m in respect of multiple allegations of negligence and breach of the CML Handbook
Representing a consultant management accountant against a claim of negligence arising out of alleged failure to detect, or put in place measures to detect fraud perpetrated by a company's finance controller
Representing an IFA in respect of a claim concerning alleged negligent pensions advice and over-charging
