Alison Walton

Legal Director

Alison is a senior commercial contracts and procurement lawyer.

Her experience includes:

  • Drafting and negotiating a suite of contractual documents on behalf of a private sector client throughout negotiations for the creation of a joint venture to provide the long term outsourcing by a local authority of its entire customer services function, capital works maintenance and facilities management services - this included drafting contracts, leading legal negotiations and advising on joint venture issues;
  • Advising the Department of Health on its procurement of its next generation Electronic Staff Record system using the competitive negotiated procedure under the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 - Alison's role included advising on all aspects of the procurement process, drafting procurement documentation, advising on evaluation criteria and weightings and risk management strategies throughout the process;
  • Leading the competitive dialogue process for a collaboration of nine local authorities to appoint a delivery partner under the Government's "Green Deal" initiative, the first project of its kind in the UK.

In particular, Alison is well-known for leading streamlined efficient and "bidder friendly" competitive dialogue and negotiated procedures, advising on procurement strategy through to standstill and debrief issues, and advises on structuring procurements to fall outside of the procurement regime.

Alison’s commercial contracts experience is broad and ranges from drafting and advising on standard terms of sale and purchase for business to business transactions, to negotiating major outsourcing arrangements, long term supply, agency, distribution and franchising.

Alison qualified in 2002 and joined DAC Beachcroft in 2014.
