International law firm DAC Beachcroft is delighted to announce that leading Insurance and Professional & Financial Disputes expert Simon Konsta of Clyde & Co has joined DACB as a partner, also taking on the role of International and Business Development Lead in the firm’s Global Insurance practice.
Simon has been a leader in Professional & Financial Lines in London for 25 years, advising IT consultants, accountants, auditors, actuaries, architects and engineers, directors & officers, surveyors and valuers, and other professionals. He has acted on a number of landmark professional negligence actions and amassed extensive experience of multi-jurisdictional commercial insurance and professional liability disputes.
Between 2016 and 2019 Simon served as Senior Partner and Chair of Clyde & Co’s Global Management Board and was previously Global Head of Insurance. Simon was also Senior Partner at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert before its merger with Clyde & Co in 2011, overseeing the merger and subsequently spearheading international growth at Clyde & Co.
“Simon is an extremely high profile individual in the London insurance market and someone who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our practice,” said Helen Faulkner, DACB’s Head of Insurance. “Bringing Simon on board reinforces our leading market position and demonstrates our commitment to being the international insurance firm of choice for our global insurance clients.”
Liam O’Connell, Head of the Global London team at DACB, added, “Simon has a proven track record in implementing growth strategies and is a leading name in the London insurance market. In addition to having a great reputation as a lawyer, his ability to win work, develop ever-greater sector and business line specialisms, and nurture and mentor up-and-coming talent are superb.”
Simon said, “I relish the opportunity to work with DACB internationally, including their highly regarded professional liability team. We are likely to see complex and challenging claims flow from the current economic headwinds which, in turn, tend to lead to professional negligence claims. There are great opportunities ahead and I’m looking forward to helping DACB take a leading role on them and develop their platform.”
Simon’s hire follows closely on from DACB’s recruitment last year of insurance litigation heavyweights Ian Plumley and Jon Ogle from Clyde & Co and Norton Rose Fulbright, respectively.
DACB continues to expand internationally, having recently trebled the number of partners it has in Singapore and announcing a cooperation agreement with Legalign Global partner BLD Bach Langheid Dallmayr, the market-leading insurance and liability law firm in Germany, to expand its relationship.
