International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce the appointment of Ana Catalina Restrepo as a partner in its Bogota office. Ana Catalina joins from Tamayo Jaramillo & Asociados, where she was also a partner.
Ana Catalina is a recognised insurance practitioner in Colombia, specialising in litigation and arbitration, primarily on cases relating to general liability matters, medical malpractice, financial lines and property. She is also highly experienced in claims handling services.
Helen Faulkner, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of Insurance, said, “Ana Catalina has an excellent reputation in the insurance and reinsurance markets and will be a real asset for our team in Colombia and the firm as a whole.
“We are the international law firm of choice for the global insurance industry and having a strong presence in all the key insurance markets in which our clients choose to operate – including those across Latin America – is a key part of our strategy. This hire is yet another example of how we are continuing to invest in our international offices for the benefit of our clients.”
Andrés Amunátegui, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of Latin America, said, “The arrival of Ana Catalina to the LatAm team is part of the growth plan outlined in our international strategy with the purpose of strengthening our teams and capabilities in the region. Watch this space – there is more to come in the next few months.”
Juan Diego Arango, partner and Head of DAC Beachcroft’s Bogota office, added, “We are delighted to welcome Ana Catalina to the firm. Our international reach is a major benefit for our clients, but so is our expertise and local knowledge of the Colombian market. We see significant opportunities to grow our presence locally, and Ana Catalina is well positioned to help us do this.”
DAC Beachcroft has been steadily growing its international presence. In January 2020 it announced a combination with Spanish law firm Asjusa, adding three partners and a 20-strong team of healthcare-focused professional liability and insurance lawyers to its Madrid office. In early 2019 the firm also launched an office in Paris focused on both the global and domestic insurance and industrial risks sector.
DAC Beachcroft has one of the largest insurance practices of any law firm in the UK, operating from eleven UK locations, as well as internationally from offices in Ireland, Spain, France, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile. The firm is also a founding member of Legalign Global, a closely integrated alliance of four multi-national law firms with 60 offices across the globe.
