International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce it has joined forces with Spanish law firm Asjusa, a market leader in the area of healthcare law in Spain. The move bolsters DAC Beachcroft’s existing Madrid office and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to international expansion to meet the needs of its clients.
As part of the integration of the two businesses, a three-partner and 20-strong specialised team of professional liability and insurance lawyers, focused on the healthcare segment of the insurance market, has joined DAC Beachcroft.
Asjusa’s highly skilled and top-ranked healthcare/medical negligence team, led by partners Eduardo Asensi Pallarés and Iñigo Cid-Luna Clares, brings extensive experience in offering contentious (med-mal) and non-contentious (regulatory and tech) services, advising public and private health organisations (and their insurers) across Spain.
David Pollitt, DAC Beachcroft’s Managing Partner, said, “This move sends a clear message to the market about our continued focus on being the law firm of choice for the global insurance industry. International growth is a cornerstone of our strategy to bolster the global support and sustainable value we provide to our clients. This highly strategic combination, which augments both our insurance and health offering, does just that.”
Eduardo Asensi Pallarés, Managing Partner at Asjusa, added, “Our team has spent years developing close relationships with the Health Public Services in Spain, and we have guided them through healthcare public sector changes in the region, including hardening conditions. As the private health insurance market has also grown, we have been well positioned to support our clients through all aspects of healthcare law including regulatory, technology, liability and medical malpractice. Now, together with DAC Beachcroft, we will be in an even stronger position to provide our clients with the best possible support.”
DAC Beachcroft’s integration with Asjusa further strengthens its leading international insurance practice, which acts across the full breadth of the insurance sector and includes a presence in key markets throughout the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.
Gustavo Blanco, DAC Beachcroft’s International Development Director, said, “The strengthening of our international offering, particularly in Madrid, is an important step for our firm. There are market opportunities that make Spain a strategically important hub for us and a key target for investment.
“The team at Asjusa brings a breadth and depth of experience that will add new services to our existing offering and enhance our entire international business. We are delighted to have them on board.”
DAC Beachcroft’s expansion in Madrid follows on from its launch in Paris and expansion in Dublin during 2019, as well as its recent domestic growth, having launched an office in Belfast and welcoming a new five-partner team in Glasgow. The firm is also a founding member of Legalign Global, a closely integrated alliance of four multi-national law firms with 60 offices across the globe.
