DAC Beachcroft delivers ‘Informed Insurance’

Published 16 September 2019

The first of a new three part insurance report, Informed Insurance 2019/20, published today (16 September 2019) by international law firm DAC Beachcroft, brings together a collection of thought leadership from across the full spectrum of insurance risks across the globe.

Introducing the report, Helen Faulkner, Head of Insurance at DAC Beachcroft, explains: "A recent client survey highlighted three recurring C-suite concerns: technology, Brexit and regulation. This report addresses these very issues. From a technological development perspective we explore the complexities around automated vehicles on land, sea and air. Meanwhile our international panel provides up to date views on preparations that can be made for Brexit at a time of uncertainty.

“Concerns over investment and underwriting around climate change and renewable energy are also addressed. Finally, our experts from across various jurisdictions discuss recent developments in class actions, specifically in relation to the impact of the #MeToo movement.”

The report can be downloaded from the new ‘Informed Insurance’ microsite, where further content on the thought leadership themes can be found throughout the year.

The launch is being marked with a series of thought-provoking seminars featuring international panellists from DAC Beachcroft and Legalign Global™. The four key topics being debated are ‘Brexit – The End is just the Beginning’, ‘Class Actions Around the World’, ‘International D&O – The Insurability of Fines and Penalties’ and ‘Automated Vehicles – a multi-jurisdictional overview and preview of the Law Commission review into future mobility solutions’.

The second part of the report, ‘Predictions’, looking at the global opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for the sector, will be released in January 2020. The industry can expect the third and final Informed Insurance 2019/20 instalment, ‘Developments’, in May 2020, which will be a guide of upcoming legislative and judicial updates which are essential reading for managing risk and business planning.
