International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce the completion of a £47m deal for Houndshill Shopping Centre in Blackpool, on behalf of its client Blackpool Council.
The move will allow for significant investment in the key 400,000 sq ft site from Blackpool Council who are already looking to secure a planned extension.
Blackpool Council also believes that the acquisition, from the receivers of previous owner BCC Eiffel, will also deliver a significant financial return.
Paul McCartney, Partner at DAC Beachcroft and lead on the acquisition, said, “We are proud to have been able to advise Blackpool Council on this deal.
We are constantly reminded of the changing pressures and demands facing the UK’s retail sector. Proactive and positive local authorities such as Blackpool Council can provide the impetus – and access to investment capital – required to keep our shopping centres and high streets vibrant, attractive and competitive.
“We look forward to seeing Blackpool Council’s plans for Houndshill take shape.”
The DAC Beachcroft team that worked on the deal was led by Paul McCartney, and included Liz Donnelly, Tom Everson and Clare Naylor (Real Estate), Matthew Spencer (Tax), Ian Mackenzie (Commercial), Paul Corris (Employment), Katharine Davies (Construction) and Anne Harrison (Planning).
