International law firm DAC Beachcroft is delighted to announce that it has won ‘Best CSR Initiative’ at the HR in Law Awards, in recognition of its youth volunteering programme in hospitals with the #IWill Campaign.
DAC Beachcroft has partnered with local schools and the NHS in three cities as part of the #iWill Campaign to make youth volunteering happen in NHS hospitals. The programme has seen colleagues lead teams of youth volunteers within hospitals, assisting the NHS with activities such as 'way-finding' for visitors navigating hospital buildings, befriending elderly dementia patients through bedside craft activities, and entertaining children in paediatric waiting areas through stories and play.
DAC Beachcroft also led youth volunteers through pre-programme employability workshops, helping student volunteers draft CVs, write applications, and undergo mock interviews to help the students to apply for the hospital volunteering.
Virginia Clegg, DAC Beachcroft’s Senior Partner, said, “The NHS is one of the firm’s most valued clients, as well as a valued national institution, so we were doubly motivated to support the Step Up to Serve and #iWill Campaign. I’m very proud that we’ve received this award, which is deserved recognition of the efforts of an impressive number of DAC Beachcroft colleagues, dedicated youth volunteers, and so many others who have contributed to the success of this programme.”
After picking up the award at the awards ceremony at Tobacco Dock in East London, Lois Duguid, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of Responsible Business, added, “We have worked hard to align ourselves with partnerships that benefit our clients, our communities, and our people. Our youth volunteering programme aligns with the goals we have set out in our Purpose as a firm: to help our clients and colleagues succeed, and to create sustainable value for our employees, clients and our local communities.”
DAC Beachcroft, which has advised the NHS for over 70 years, has also recently agreed a new partnership arrangement with Helpforce to support the charity as it creates opportunities for thousands more volunteers in the NHS. DAC Beachcroft will work with Helpforce on a ‘low bono’ basis, providing 50% of its time to support the charity on a pro bono basis in the first year of the partnership.
DAC Beachcroft’s Health sector practice is widely recognised as the market leader in the provision of legal advice to the health and social care sector. The firm advises more than 300 independent and public sector healthcare clients in the UK, from internationally acclaimed hospitals to health tech start-ups.
