International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce that senior associate Olu Dansu will travel to Nigeria as part of the Legal Services are GREAT UK trade delegation, an initiative spearheaded by the UK government. The delegation will visit Lagos between 1-3 April 2019.
Legal Services are GREAT is the UK Ministry of Justice’s flagship international marketing campaign which seeks to promote the UK’s £24 billion legal services sector overseas. The campaign encourages global firms and businesses to choose the UK for its unrivalled depth and breadth of legal expertise and supports major international companies at every stage of their legal journey, from understanding the benefits of the UK’s legal services, right through to identifying practitioners to support their business needs. Legal Services are GREAT was launched in Nigeria by Prime Minister Theresa May during her visit to Africa in 2018.
Olu Dansu, a senior associate in DAC Beachcroft’s London Global Insurance team, is one of 23 delegates taking part in the trade mission. He specialises in defending high-value property damage, construction and product liability claims, as well as pursuing subrogated recovery actions. He also advises on all aspects of policy coverage, including complex coverage issues and potentially fraudulent claims, and regularly advises on foreign claims involving disputes arising internationally.
“The UK’s legal services sector is one of our greatest exports,” said Olu. “Trade between the UK and Nigeria was worth £4.2 billion in 2017 and is set to double by 2030, so the launch of this campaign comes at an opportune time. I’m honoured to be part of this delegation and see this trade mission as an opportunity to forge strong and mutually beneficial relationships with aspirational businesses in Nigeria.”
Helen Faulkner, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of Insurance, added, “Our legal system is well established, with centuries worth of case law and legal precedent. English law underpins more than a quarter of the world’s jurisdictions, and our law firms, courts and judges are held in the highest esteem right across the globe.
“We are delighted that Olu is representing DAC Beachcroft on this trade mission to promote the benefits of the UK’s legal system. He is very well placed to share his extensive knowledge and expertise and will no doubt gain new insights from the mission which will benefit our clients and the wider firm.”
