International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce it has agreed a new association with López Saavedra & Villarroel Abogados in Argentina, as it continues to invest strategically in its market-leading Latin American platform.
The brand new association, which took effect from 24 November, means DAC Beachcroft now has a footprint in 11 separate jurisdictions in Latin America, more than any other law firm.
Headquartered in Buenos Aires, López Saavedra & Villarroel Abogados has three partners and nearly 50 people specialising in insurance and reinsurance law. Both firms share common clients and a similar approach to market and it is likely that referrals and secondments will form part of the new arrangement.
This move is the latest investment in Latin America for DAC Beachcroft, a region that has been pivotal in its international growth for many years. At the end of last year, the firm agreed the formation of new associations in Peru and Central America with two of the region's leading insurance and reinsurance firms, Torres Carpio Portocarrero & Richter (TCPR) and BLP, in the process securing coverage in six further countries in the region.
In January, the firm launched Legalign Global with BLD Bach Langheid Dallmayr (Germany), Wilson Elser (US) and Wotton + Kearney (Australia), a unique model that combines four of the world's leading insurance law firms to deliver legal services for insurers and their global clients.
DAC Beachcroft Managing Partner, David Pollitt, said: "This is a fantastic move for both firms and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome López Saavedra & Villarroel to our growing international network. We are excited about the prospect of our lawyers working more closely together in the coming months and years to meet the needs of our clients in the region."
"DAC Beachcroft already has the most comprehensive best-in-class coverage in Latin America but Argentina is rapidly becoming an emerging insurance market of real interest to our clients. Joining forces with López Saavedra & Villarroel, a well-respected and longstanding firm with which we have worked for some years now, is an ideal way for us to respond to client demand to help them grow into this exciting jurisdiction. López Saavedra & Villarroel is an ideal strategic fit for our business."
Mariano López Saavedra, Partner at López Saavedra & Villarroel Abogados, said: "We are delighted to have joined in alliance with DAC Beachcroft, an excellent law firm with a leading reputation in international insurance markets and with which we shared a number of common values. In combination, we are in the perfect position to capitalise on the growing importance of the Argentinian market to insurer clients as the country's economy continues the ongoing process of economic liberalisation."
