DAC Beachcroft invests again in Newcastle with Second Team Acquisition from DWF
Published On: 8 June 2016
International law firm DAC Beachcroft has made a second investment in quick succession in Newcastle with the acquisition of a four-lawyer Professional Indemnity (PI) team from DWF, including local office head, Helen Ager.
A former president of Newcastle Law Society, Ager has more than 20 years' experience advising on commercial and PI claims. The group also includes fellow partner Tom Whitfield and two solicitors as well as professional support staff.
All of the new recruits join DAC Beachcroft's market-leading Professional Negligence team, which is ranked in Band One in the North East & Yorkshire by leading legal directory, Chambers and Partners. Based in Newcastle, they will benefit from the firm's extensive network, enabling them to service clients at a local, regional, national and international level. In addition, solicitor Megan Dickinson has joined DAC Beachcroft's Global team based in London.
The latest arrivals follow DAC Beachcroft's acquisition last month of a seven-partner, 11-lawyer Casualty Claims team from DWF led by Rod Searl.
DAC Beachcroft Managing Partner, David Pollitt, said: "We're delighted to welcome Helen and her team as part of our latest acquisition, which underlines our commitment to prolonged and strategic investment in the northeast. Recruiting four lawyers of their undoubted calibre and expertise only serves to further enhance our already strong national reputation in professional work."
"I am confident their arrival will bring significant benefits to our business in Newcastle and across the UK and will help us continue to provide our clients with the opportunity to tap into the very best legal talent available in the northeast."
David Weatherburn, Regional Senior Partner at DAC Beachcroft Newcastle, said: "This latest set of hires comes after a year that saw revenues in our Newcastle office grow by 18% and as we secure an additional 4,000 sq feet of space to be fitted out by the end of August."
"We are delighted to welcome Helen and the team who will further contribute to the undoubted impetus we have locally. Indeed, we are already looking forward to our next project."
