DAC Beachcroft Strengthens Again in Latin America with New Associations in Peru and Central America
Published On: 6 December 2016
International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce the formation of two new associations in Peru and across Central America with two of the region's leading insurance and reinsurance firms, Torres Carpio Portocarrero & Richter (TCPR) and BLP.
The move is the latest stage in DAC Beachcroft's ongoing programme of international growth and will provide clients with coverage in Peru (TCPR) and Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras (BLP).
Described as "an elite firm", BLP is top-ranked in the Central American region by a range of leading legal guides, including The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer and Chambers and Partners, which praises the firm and its "excellent professionals" for "stand(ing) out the most in the local market".
Meanwhile, Lima-based Torres Carpio Portocarrero & Richter was founded in 2010 and quickly forged a reputation as one of Peru's leading insurance specialist law firms.
These associations will complement DAC Beachcroft's existing strengths throughout Latin America, where the firm already has its own offices in Mexico, Colombia and Chile, together with an alliance in Brazil and a hub in Miami. The new arrangement will see all three firms work together to share best practice and meet mutual clients' key business needs in Latin America.
Announcing the move, DAC Beachcroft Managing Partner, David Pollitt, said: "We are very excited about this development, which marks a further important step in the firm's expansion plans, adding to our existing strong network in the Latin American region."
"DAC Beachcroft is already the leading international law firm operating in the insurance sector in Latin America, where we are proud to have maintained a physical presence for some 14 years. These associations now add Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador to the existing platform, allowing us to serve even better the needs of our clients in the region."
DAC Beachcroft Latin American Regional Head, Anthony Menzies, added: "We know Latin America is a hugely important market and one to which we are committed as part of our international growth strategy. It is undoubtedly a region where our clients want us to be. These associations now give us a presence in no fewer than ten Latin American jurisdictions, either through our own or associate offices."
BLP’s Neftalí Garro, who heads the firm’s regional Insurance & Reinsurance Practice, noted that: "We are proud to join forces and pool our resources with DAC Beachcroft. The synergies between the high-quality service both firms provide to the international insurance market make this new association an exciting opportunity and one we look forward to capitalising on."
Pedro Richter, Head of Insurance at Torres Carpio Portocarrero & Richter, said: "We are pleased to have agreed this new arrangement with a firm of the calibre of DAC Beachcroft and look forward to our lawyers and clients feeling the benefit of our extended international reach."
