International law firm DAC Beachcroft was named Insurance Team of the Year 2015 at the Legal Business annual awards ceremony this week.
This marks the second time in the last three years that the firm's insurance team has claimed the coveted Insurance Team of the Year title, having made the magazine's shortlist in this category for the last four consecutive years.
This year's win was in recognition of the firm's high-profile success in the landmark Court of Appeal ruling, in May 2014, in the London 2011 riots litigation. The impact of the Court of Appeal decision, coupled with the high number and value of riot claims, prompted the Home Secretary to commission an independent review of the Riot Damages Act 1886, which then triggered proposed reforms under the new Riot Compensation Bill.
Commenting on the win, David Pollitt, Head of Insurance at DAC Beachcroft, said: "This is a terrific achievement. Having first won this prestigious award in 2013, to regain it again two years later is a very clear indication of the outstanding strength of the firm's insurance capabilities. This external recognition of our insurance team's hard work and dedication is justly deserved."
Other firms competing for the award included Ashurst, Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells, Pinsent Masons and Simmons & Simmons.
The Legal Business Awards ceremony is held annually in central London and recognises outstanding expertise in the legal market.
