International law firm DAC Beachcroft has been appointed as sole law advisers to NHS Property Services for its HR needs following a rigorous and competitive tender process.
NHS Property Services is a commercial asset manager of 4,000 NHS properties worth over £3 billion. The health employment team at DAC Beachcroft will support the organisation in dealing with a wide range of issues related to its 3,200 strong workforce.
To win the three-year contract DAC Beachcroft beat competition from other major health firms. The work on the contract will be done from five of DAC Beachcroft's nine UK offices in Bristol, Leeds, London, Manchester and Newcastle.
Commenting on the win, Nick Chronias, partner in the Employment and Pensions Group at the London office of DAC Beachcroft, who led the tender bid, said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to work on this high profile contract.
"We scored a very high mark for our tender proposal which is testament to our understanding of NHS Property Services objectives, market knowledge and reputation."
NHS Property Services has two main roles:
- Strategic estates management – acting as a landlord, modernising facilities, buying new facilities and selling facilities the NHS no longer needs;
- Dedicated provider of support services such as cleaning and catering.
It has responsibility for 4,000 buildings – worth over £3 billion – which were previously owned, leased or managed by Primary Care Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities.
This accounts for some 11.5 per cent of the NHS estate in England.
