International law firm DAC Beachcroft has opened a representative office in New York, with effect from Monday 20 January.
The office will be used to promote the firm's multi-jurisdictional insurance capabilities, especially across Latin America, as well as its international commercial litigation and arbitration capabilities.
Specialists from DAC Beachcroft's international network will be available at the New York representative office on a rotating basis regularly throughout the year. The core team will include the following partners: David Pollitt (Head of Insurance), Paulino Fajardo (Head of Global), Adrian Williams (Corporate Insurance), Francisco Fernandes-Fletes (Head of Mexico Office), Nick Young (Engineering & Construction), Julian Miller (Reinsurance), Mark Sutton (Financial Lines) and Matthew Wescott (Commercial Litigation/Arbitration).
Commenting on the new office, DAC Beachcroft Managing Partner, Paul Murray, said: "We know there are opportunities for the firm on the other side of the Atlantic. This base will allow us to build relationships in North America, which is another important step toward our long-term goal of becoming the leading international provider of legal services to the insurance sector."
Located at One Battery Park Plaza in Manhattan, the office opening forms part of a strategic alliance agreed with specialist New York insurance law firm, Abrams Gorelick Friedman & Jacobson (AGF&J), to work more closely together in New York and London to better serve the interests of their insurance clients.
David Pollitt, Head of DAC Beachcroft's Insurance sector, added: "New York is a very important market for many of our insurance clients. We already have a number of strong relationships with major international insurers. They are increasingly more interested in our unique global offering, particularly in relation to our own-office Latin America coverage where we now have a formidable presence in Chile, Colombia and Mexico. This new representative office in New York brings us closer to them and will provide us with the platform we need to better service their requirements internationally."
He added: "We will be focusing on claims work as well as corporate and regulatory work. Our reach extends beyond insurance into commercial litigation and international arbitration where, again, our global footprint offers clients access to strong support in key markets."
"Furthermore, we have worked with the team of Abrams Gorelick for many years now and our alliance with them will enable both of us better to reach our clients in New York and London."
Glenn Jacobson, Partner at AGF&J, commented: "We know DAC Beachcroft very well having worked together on a number of international insurance matters for clients. We feel positive about working more closely together in both New York and London, two of the most important insurance markets in the world, and we are confident that our clients will benefit from this alliance."
