Sorry, we had a problem.
With our aging population, there are ever increasing numbers of people in care homes. This model of care is focussed on joining up the fragmented provision of health and care services into care homes.
This can be achieved in a number of ways, and technology may be integral in this model, in order that care is based around an integrated health and social care record, and consultations may be carried out remotely by physicians where clinically appropriate. This model is likely to necessitate collaborative commissioning arrangements between CCGs and Councils, in order that there is a resulting integrated provision of health and social care services.
In March 2018, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published a governmental response to their final report into residential and nursing care homes. From this, the Government will produce a Green Paper during the summer of 2018 which will consider the fundamental issues facing the care system.
