Liberty Protection Safeguards: Getting Ready? Leeds

Liberty Protection Safeguards: Getting Ready? Leeds

As progress towards replacing the existing Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards continues apace, it seems that major change affecting health and social care providers and commissioners is just around the corner.

Under the proposed new regime - referred to as the 'Liberty Protection Safeguards' - NHS Trusts, independent sector hospitals, CCGs and care homes will all have a much bigger role to play in the deprivation of liberty authorisation process than they do now.  The new regime will apply in hospitals and in community settings, including in people's own homes.

Is your organisation clear about what its legal responsibilities will be when the new regime comes in?  How will you ensure your organisation is compliant and has systems in place to incorporate the changes?

We invite you to join us for a Liberty Protection Safeguards 'taster' event looking at the key changes being proposed, including:

  • What will the new process involve? (e.g. assessments, pre-authorisation reviews and the role of care home managers)
  • What role will hospitals and CCGs as new 'responsible bodies' have in authorising deprivations of liberty?
  • What do you need to do to start getting ready?

There will also be an opportunity to network over coffee with colleagues from other organisations.
