In its 2021 Merger Control Update, the EU, Competition and Regulated Markets team highlight recent merger control developments in Ireland, providing commentary on the key trends and on the outlook for 2022. The number of notifications to the Irish competition regulator, the CCPC, was nearly double 2020’s figure, indicating a return of commercial confidence in certain sectors of the economy. The most significant increases reported were in the financial services, energy and manufacturing sectors.
