Cayman Islands - New data protection bill released

In a move to provide legal rights to individuals who have information stored about them, the Cayman Islands Government has released its Data Protection Bill 2016 (the "Bill"). The Bill is based on the UK DPA and in common with the DPA contains eight key principles that must be adhered to when processing personal data.
The Bill may yet be subject to amendments and a timeline for implementation has not yet been announced.
