What does this cover?
At the Computers, Privacy & Data Protection conference in Brussels a panel discussion entitled 'The data protection reform: where are we and where are we going?' was held on the need for compliance tools as part of the GDPR's implementation. The panel was comprised of the following MEPs: Jan Philipp Albrecht (Germany), Michał Boni (Poland), Marju Lauristin (Estonia) and Axel Voss (Germany).
As part of the GDPR implementation programme, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is responsible for issuing guidance on the GDPR. During the discussions MEPs emphasised the importance of the guidance addressing technical aspects of the GDPR in order to avoid legal uncertainty and ensure harmony of implementation across the EU.
This discussion highlighted some of the concerns from member states surrounding implementation of the GDPR such as uniformity and consistency.
