Australia - Cyber Security Strategy released by Australian Government
Published 21 April 2016
In light of the growing cyber threats to organisations, the Australian Government has issued its new 'Cyber Security Strategy' (the "Strategy"). The Strategy aims to consolidate current thinking on cyber security and looks to provide a basis upon which organisations can develop their own cyber security strategies.
The Strategy focuses on five key themes:
- a national cyber partnership;
- strong cyber defence;
- global responsibility and influence;
- growth and innovation; and
- a cyber smart nation,
and has the aim of "[keeping] Australia safe and competitive in an increasingly digital world", as set out in the Australian Prime Minster's speech in which he announced the Strategy.
Organisations should monitor the developments arising from the Strategy as they may present opportunities for innovation and growth in the cyber sphere.
