Welcome to our first data protection alert of 2015 and my opportunity to muse on the data protection trends of the last 12 months and give some predictions for the year ahead.
2014 was the year when many of my clients lost their innocence and started actually "doing" Big Data. By far the most popular use amongst my clients was the use of software packages combing social media for insights on brand reputation to purchasing habits based on life events. 2015 looks like it will be a year of experimentation, when we actually see whether these insights are useful and what clients can proactively do with the insights obtained.
