In a sneak-peak of the issues at the forefront of US President Barack Obama's agenda for 2015, he kicked off the New Year by unveiling in a speech at the Federal Trade Commission a range of initiatives aimed at improving US citizens' data security.
Obama recognised both the opportunities and vulnerabilities that our digital world brings. The timing of the speech was particularly ironic, as that at the very same moment, US Central Command's Twitter and YouTube accounts had been hacked by ISIS sympathisers.
