Further to our previous stories covering the proposed new data protection law in Russia (Law) the Russian parliament has passed a proposal to amend the effective date from 1 September 2016 to 1 September 2015.
In addition, the Russian data protection authority has issued an order which removes from the list of countries that are deemed to have adequate data protection standards, Hong Kong and Switzerland. No reasons appear to have been provided for their removal.
If your company operates in Russia, specific advice in Russia is required to ensure it keeps up to date with further developments to ensure that it complies with any new laws once they are introduced.
