The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) has published amended guidelines on the Personal Information Protection Act. The amendment which covers data security measures taken by companies focuses in particular on supervision of subcontractors.
A copy of the Guidelines is available here (Japanese).
Companies with presence in Japan should review and comply with these guidelines.
