Welcome to the fifth edition of our Catastrophic Injury Quarterly Review. In this edition we look at: attempts to increase the cost of amputation claims; the continuing difficulties for local authorities trying to charge Claimants for community care; the application of Eeles stage 2 considerations in interim payment applications; the need for double handed care; how to be creative with periodical payments orders; the effect of education on recovery from traumatic brain injury; re-opening provisional damages claims and claims settled without Court approval where the Claimant lacks capacity; success fees in catastrophic injury claims; and finally a range of quantum issues decided by the High Court in a recent quantum trial.
