Supporting our communities
Many of our office Locations are in close proximity to some of the UK’s poorest neighbourhoods, and for this reason we are developing Community activities to support local people who experience social exclusion and social mobility problems.
DAC Beachcroft is helping children in disadvantaged schools near our offices to fulfil their potential through a good education. Our Newport office is supporting children at Tredgar Primary School to practise their reading skills through weekly Reading Partner sessions. We have just celebrated 5 years of support for partner school Bristol Metropolitan Academy, where over 60 DAC Beachcroft employees have mentored GCSE students. In London we have partnered with Sir John Cass & Red Coat Foundation School in Whitechapel through Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership. At Bridgewater Primary in Newcastle we help children get a good start to the day with a nutritious breakfast through the Greggs Breakfast Club.
We recently launched a programme of support for homeless people through Christmas volunteering days involving every single one of our offices in Europe. This was kicked off by our Senior Partner, Virginia Clegg and members of our Board, who served lunch to homeless people at The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields. Our people in London are continuing this support by serving lunch at The Connection once a week for a further 3 months. Our Bristol office is continuing with a rota to provide food out on the streets one evening a week whilst also developing ‘Bridge the Gap’ employment workshops with Business in the Community. Last year, we successfully hosted a 6-month work experience placement in London through St Mungos and the ‘Roll on Monday’ initiative, and we are looking to offer further work placements in other offices.
