The large organisational change project

Sometimes our clients’ HR functions lack the resource or expertise to design and implement a large organisational change project. Recently, we acted for a global telecommunications client that lacked the HR capacity to carry out such a project. The project included reducing the client’s employee base in the UK and near-shoring work and transferring employees into Germany, Holland, Poland and the Czech Republic. Rather than engage a number of discrete HR contractors, it wanted to engage one firm to deliver a “cradle to grave” service so that it could outsource the management of the project as well as its implementation.

We utilised our lawyers and HR experts to meet with the key stakeholders to design a project that would deliver its objectives, within its timescales and to its budgetary requirements. We “stepped in” to act as the client’s HR function for this project, which included:-

  • managing the election of and training of employee representatives;
  • conducting collective consultations;
  • training line managers to conduct individual consultations; and
  • managing all employee issues to ensure the project was delivered successfully on time and on budget.

By offering a staged fixed fee, our client had the cost certainty it required in relation to legal and HR costs and was extremely satisfied with the outcome.
