CQC registration

Our CQC team works with independent and public sector health and social care providers on all aspects of CQC registration.

This can range from one-off queries about registration requirements (e.g. whether a change to an existing registration is needed when registered providers come together to provide new models of care) through to supporting new providers step-by-step through the registration process, including overseas new entrants to the market.

How we can help

• Registration support - we can provide advice and support to new entrants into the market to help them get to grips with the regulatory framework, including:
  • Guidance on the CQC registration process, including business planning according to what will and will not trigger registration requirements;
  • Support for the RA application(s) and supportive evidence;
  • Assistance with policies needed for registration;
  • DBS disclosure requirements;
  • Fit and proper persons advice;
  • Registered Manager applications; and
  • Preparation for registration interviews.
    
    
• Acquisitions/disposals - a key element of due diligence when acquiring or disposing of health and social care services involves considering the impact on CQC registration. For example, we can advise providers on whether their existing registration is sufficient to cover services they will be acquiring.
  
  
• Integrated care - providers planning to join forces with others to deliver services in innovative ways under new models of care come to us for advice about how this affects their existing CQC registrations and steps needed to ensure compliance.
  
  
• Strategic advice - advising Boards on the changing regulatory landscape around registration and the CQC's plan to register parent/Top Cos to enhance accountability for compliance within provider groups (health and social care independent sector).

• Advising a group provider of ophthalmology services on CQC registration requirements following acquisitions and changes to corporate structure and locations;
• Start-to-finish CQC registration process support for providers, including a specialist dementia services provider and new primary care provider;
• Advising on and quality-checking applications for new location and new Registered Managers, including advice to providers of telehealth services/GP apps;
• Briefing a new entrant on a range of potential services being considered, and mapping to registration triggers, to shape the business planning at start up (international);
• Advising on CQC registration triggers within joint ventures and LLP arrangements across public and independent sector deals;
