Chris focuses his practice on international labour standards, human rights, and UK employment law. As the UK's Employer Governing Body representative for the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Chris understands the emerging business and human rights risks faced by businesses operating in a changing, globalised world. The Governing Body is the executive body of the ILO. He appreciates that business partners, investors, institutions and governments are demanding more integrated and sustainable reporting in respect of companies’ consideration of human rights. His labour standards expertise and international business network means he is uniquely placed to assist in the design of your corporate human rights strategy, the drafting of policies, the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures, the design of a communications strategy, and the provision of training. Chris is also the CBI's Management Board representative for the International Organisation of Employers (IOE). The IOE is the organisation with the largest number of representatives of the private sector in the world. It consists of over 145 national employers' organisations from 140 countries. As well as being an experienced tribunal advocate, Chris is a regular speaker at legal training events. He advises a broad range of employers on all employment matters including the restructuring, transfer or takeover of businesses, contracts of employment and employment policies, restrictive covenants, employee representation, dismissals, and discrimination. He has particular expertise assisting organisations to manage high-profile terminations. Chris is regularly called upon by the media to comment on employment law developments, including BBC Radio, BBC News24 and Sky News.
