Claims validation

DAC Beachcroft has one of the largest dedicated fraud teams in the UK, with our lawyers based in our Birmingham and Manchester offices. Our fraud team is underpinned by an Intelligence team of six additional fee earners.

Our Claims Validation Team (CVT) handles cases of motor, employer, public liability and travel fraud. We advice on cases where there may be dubious circumstances or fraud indicators, and take a view as to how they should be treated, investigated and repudiated. The team also seeks to tackle the root cause of claims, undertaking extensive research on the organisations behind them.

Our philosophy is to work in partnership with our clients in tackling fraudulent claims. We carry out extensive training and clinics with clients to equip them to run a fraud case from identifying fraud to taking all requisite steps to repudiate the case tactically.

Best Practice and anti-fraud training

Best Practice manuals are prepared for clients to use in house and we host regular fraud counsel training seminars (at the Birmingham office). Clients are encouraged to join us on 'shadowing days' where they work alongside the teams in strategy sessions.

Our clients include a wide range of household named corporate/insurance companies and public authorities.

Our services include dealing with the following types of fraud:

  • low speed impact / significant trauma cases
  • motor/EL/PL contrived cases
  • motor/EL/PL fraudulent credit hire
  • motor/EL/PL ringed frauds/grossly exaggerated claims
  • motor fraudulent travel claims
  • motor phantom passengers
  • motor staged cases and semi/staged

CVT also have substantial experience of pursuing recoveries and involving the police / CPS and other relevant organisations regarding monies acquired by fraud. This includes freezing injunctions, subsequent enforcement and the realisation of assets including bankruptcy where we have the benefit of advice from our specialist insolvency department.

We provide a contact 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for cases of extreme urgency. We liaise closely with the police and other investigative agencies involved in criminal investigations, to maximise the ability to freeze assets at an early stage.

What our clients say

"They are reasonable, responsive, reliable and very keen to build up the relationship and understand our business."
