Adrian leads DAC Beachcroft's Insurance Advisory service line. A specialist in corporate finance and prudential regulation in the insurance sector, Adrian was previously General Counsel (EMEA) at Swiss Re and European Head of Legal at QBE.

He has substantial experience in international insurance and reinsurance matters, particularly in relation to Lloyd's and the London market. His expertise encompasses:

  • Mergers and acquisitions;
  • Debt and hybrid funding, ILS and structured (re)insurance;
  • Prudential regulation (Solvency II);
  • Lloyd's market regulation;
  • Joint-ventures and start-ups;
  • Binders, agency and distribution.

Adrian's recent experience has included:

  • For HCC International Insurance PLC a EUR1bn merger under the Companies (Cross-border Merger) Regulations 2007;
  • For AstraZeneca PLC and Akzo Nobel NV the disposal of their joint venture captive insurance company, I C Insurance Limited;
  • Advising a leading global investment bank on the Solvency II capital treatment of its USD 12bn Asset Backed Commercial Paper Program;
  • Advising an international life assurance company on the impact of Solvency II on its GBP 1.3bn unit-linked business;
  • Advice on the risk capital treatment and structuring of investments under Solvency II, including various US Agency Securities;
  • Advising a FTSE 250 client on the conflicts of law inherent in collateralised reinsurance and subsequently on their outwards reinsurance program.
