Kirsty advises and represents NHS organisations and other public sector bodies in respect of a wide range of employment law services, including discrimination, dismissals, grievances, Agenda for Change terms and conditions, policies, TUPE and complex re-organisations.
Her particular niche is advising NHS Trusts in connection with the employment of doctors including the appointment of consultants, disputes about job planning and revalidation. She has particular experience in advising NHS Trusts who have conduct or clinical concerns about doctors under the Department of Health framework, Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern NHS, including the associated challenges faced with such processes including High Court injunctions.
Kirsty regularly defends organisations in respect of claims in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and High Court. Her recent successes are a precedent case under the Part Time Workers Regulations, and representation for over forty public sector employers in respect of part-time pension claims under the Equal Pay Act, including a test case in the Court of Appeal.
Alongside the health sector, Kirsty advises and represents Higher Education Institutions and has particular experience in dealing with the employment of academics. She successfully defended an appeal in the Employment Appeal Tribunal under the Part-Time Workers Regulations
She has the day-to-day management of the Manchester Employment Health team, and the wider Employment team in Manchester, allocating work, providing supervision and strategic direction to in line with DAC Beachcroft's quality system. Kirsty also has responsibility for a number of NHS client relationships acting as operations manager to ensure an effective and efficient service is provided.
Kirsty delivers seminars and sector specific training and is the national lead for the specialist doctor's unit. She qualified in 2006 and joined DAC Beachcroft in 2007.
