1 Minster Court Mincing Lane London
John Bramhall has been involved in a wide range of international commercial, financial and City-related commercial disputes which have been resolved either through litigation, arbitration or other forms of ADR.
Much of his work has an international flavour, and he has ongoing instructions from a number of Middle Eastern clients from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the UAE; as well as from European clients in Italy, France, Spain and Germany. He has also regularly acted for clients where there have been concurrent and/or related proceedings in the US, and the UK, and often acts for US clients with UK subsidiaries and/or other UK interests.
John has particular experience acting for (and against) investment banks, and has recently acted in a number of separate contractual and mis-selling claims against leading UK and international banks, involving Kenyan, Portuguese and Spanish investors. He has also acted for telecommunications companies in a wide range of disputes of a contractual nature, and involving fraud, including acting on the Skype litigation. He has also been involved in a number of derivatives and other financial products claims, arising out of the collapse of Lehman Bros; out of the Icelandic banks' collapse; and for an Italian bank in derivatives disputes where there are concurrent proceedings in both Italy and the UK.
He is also acting for a Luxembourg liquidator in complex multi-party proceedings involving US and Italian parties and an alleged £200m fraud - the Fortress litigation, named as one of The Lawyer's Top 20 cases for 2014. He has also been involved in the last 12 months in two lengthy Chancery Court trials, one, an investment dispute on behalf of the Saudi Arabian Development Corporation (SEDCO), arising out of the Pinnacle construction project; and the other a property investment dispute arising out of a mixed use development in north London. He has also been instructed in connection with a number of regulatory investigations and enquiries, including the LIBOR investigations in the US, the UK and across Europe.
John is the new President of the London Solicitors Litigation Association, and is also a member of the International Bar Association.
