Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern NHS: The trials and tribulations
We understand the complex and often unique and challenging issues that you face working in NHS organisations which employ doctors and dentists, particularly post Francis, when the public and regulatory scrutiny of clinical performance has been heightened.
This will be an interactive and thought provoking session that will include:
An update on current legal issues and recent case law developed under Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern NHS (MHPS);
- Practical top tips and strategies to guide those involved through the challenging processes including dealing with overlapping whistleblowing or grievance complaints, the interaction with GMC investigation/revalidation issues and cases involving concurrent criminal investigations; and
- Consideration of whether it is ever possible to resolve "difficult" employment situations without recourse to MHPS.
This session is brought to you by DAC Beachcroft's specialist doctors and dentists' unit in association with leading barrister, Mark Sutton QC of Old Square Chambers.
Mark Sutton QC is a leading barrister in this area having litigated a number of high profile reported MHPS cases. Mark will deliver the session along with specialist members of DAC Beachcroft's doctors and dentists unit which comprises lawyers and advisers from our Employment and Pensions, Healthcare, Regulatory and Public Law and Litigation teams who work closely together to provide pragmatic solutions concerning the employment of doctors and dentists.
