The pro bono and other voluntary work of DAC Beachcroft is, together with our charitable giving, aligned with the firm's business plan and designed to achieve the maximum social benefit.
The Senior Partner is responsible for the voluntary work policy and the Regional Senior Partners (RSPs) are responsible for implementation in each location. We organise pro bono work principally through the Prince's Trust and Business in the Community ProHelp and we focus on commercial legal advice to not-for-profit organisations and start-up businesses with young and disadvantaged proprietors.
The type of law in which we specialise at DAC Beachcroft means we don't have many people with the skills to advise individuals on the problems commonly found in CABs and other advice centres, but we can give really valuable assistance to the not-for-profit organisations that do work on the front line. They are like small businesses, with the full range of governance, property, contract and employment law problems and we can help with all of those. The Prince's Trust and ProHelp enable us to find the people and organisations that need our help.
All day-to-day matters are conducted by lawyers with qualification and experience commensurate with the task involved, but subject always to close supervision by more senior members of the team. The RSPs have voluntary work as a regular agenda item at their meetings, to ensure the national approach is consistent and co-ordinated.
We recognise the wish of many people in our business to work voluntarily, using their professional and personal skills within a structure provided by the firm to maximise the beneficial impact of their contribution and so we also undertake an increasing amount of non-legal activity in support of local charities.
You can find examples of our charitable work in the press releases section of the website.
